Wondering why you’re still not feeling better, despite eliminating all the foods those lists tell you to? Have a niggling suspicion that losing all those high nutrient foods could be counter productive? Starting to worry that your five “safe foods” might turn on you one day?

It’s time to ask yourself – why go low histamine when you can go anti-histamine?

While I always tell people that it’s not just about the food, eliminating high nutrient foods from my diet turned out to be the BIGGEST mistake I ever made. But by the time the damage was done, I struggled to figure out how to fix it. At first adding high nutrient foods was challenging, till I figured out that if the goal was to add the least histamine possible to my body, why not go one step further and add antihistamine foods to my diet instead? It worked and I was finally able to come off my remaining antihistamine (zyrtec)!

My reading of the mast cell field’s top researchers (Drs Theoharides, Akin, Castells, Escribano) soon revealed that histamine, in addition to the other pro-inflammatory elements released by mast cells (prostaglandins et al), were likely causing further dysfunction in my body.

Many people in our histamine intolerance, mast cell activation disorder, and mastocytosis community are prescribed aspirin to relieve that inflammation – but why not go straight to the source? Aspirin is salicylic acid – guess where in nature you can find it? High nutrient green leafy foods! My new understanding of histamine/prostaglandin induced inflammation and the very serious ilnesses it can feed (cancer, neuro-inflammation, heart disease and many others) prompted me to address the very scarily elevated inflammatory markers in my blood work.

Thanks to my high nutrient antihistamine and anti-inflammatory approach, I’m now in the best health of my life (and have the blood tests to prove it)! And it took less than a year…

The Anti-Cookbook: High Nutrient Antihistamine & Anti-inflammatory Recipes for Health shares:

The 10 easy steps that changed my life.

The power of positivity.

A list of my top high nutrient antihistaminic, anti-inflammatory and mast cell stabilising foods.

Tasty antihistamine beverages.

Antihistamine and anti-inflammatory breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

NB: Almost every single ingredient in this book was chosen for its antihistaminic, mast cell stablising or anti-inflammatory properties…

This book is fairly hardcore high nutrient and as such incorporates green juices and smoothies. If you are new to the low histamine diet or still eating the Standard American Diet (SAD) then I recommend trying one of my other books. Please be aware that this is not a diet book, but rather a collection of the high nutrient recipes. Please be sure to consult with your doctor before adding any new foods to your diet.

I am so excited about this cookbook! I purchased it immediately and just scanned the index and I cannot wait to read the entire thing! It has been so difficult trying to think of what to feed my 15 month old and I’m thankful for some recipe ideas. Thank you SO much for sharing all of your hard work and research with us!

Hi Yasmina, you are a real blessing! Just want to know if your new book is also an e-book, before I buy it. Thanks for all your hard work, you are changing lives!!

    Hi Yasmina,

I love reading your blog and getting recipes by email, you have given me some great survival strategies.

The only thing holding me back from buying this cookbook is the fact that I have to eat vegan. I react violently to any animal proteins now (my MCAD started in may of 2011) and it is really tough to weed through a cookbook geared towards meat eaters (especially since I am a reluctant vegan and everything looks so good!).

Do you have viable alternative for those of us who can’t tolerate meat?

I also have issues with soy, peanuts, wheat and garlic/onions.

Any feed back is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Wondered what your take was on quinoa as a carb/protein. Does it fall into the inflammatory grain category for you?

I am very interested in your book but I am currently also suffering fructose intolerance. So all fruits and most veggies are out. (Right now I only eat cooked chicken, zucchini and cauliflower).

Are there recipes for both histamine and fructose intolerance? I am hoping the fructose dealio is temporary as it only came on suddenly a couple months ago.

I’ve asked my doc to test for both of these – still waiting. They were quick to remove my perfectly fine gallbladder but testing ….. not so much.

    Thank you!

Hi there, unfortunately not. My own fructose/sals issues turned out not to be, once the inflammation calmed down I was able to eat so much more. Hope they are temporary for you too 🙂

Ouch, sorry to hear about the gallbladder. That and total hysterectomy are the two most unnecessary ops many with mast cell/histamine issues seem to be subjected to.

    ‘Sigh’. Docs.

Hi there, I’ve noticed an inflammatory effect. I might try it again at some point, but for now, aside from a little buckwheat, and oats once a month at the most, I’m avoiding any grain-like foods. But you never know, we’re all different…might be ok for you.

    Hi there!

So I totally get it. The new book only has a few animal recipes. If you can control yourself I recommend checking the book out. There’s waaaaaaay much more in there than just recipes. There’s a ton of info. I can send you vegan recipes for the four non-vegan recipes if you like. I myself was vegan, not for reactions sake, I just hated the idea of killing animals. I only began eating meat again of chronic anemia. I react violently to iron supplements! I’m still trying to work a way around it. And as much as I love fish, the contamination is a huge concern to me.

The garlic/onions is more of a problem – most of my recipes have them 🙂 Those I’m sorry to say I have no subs for!

Can you give any insight into what foods are and are not included in this book? I don’t want to purchase the book and then not be able to eat/use any of the recipes. I’m already gluten/dairy free (as well as a few other random triggers) and we also have to avoid soy, eggs, most nuts and seeds (except sunflower) and several fruits/veggies due to my son and daughter’s food intolerances. My daughter has FPIES (Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome) and has very bad reactions to many many foods.

I saw in one of your replies that you said histamine intolerance effects women as far as hysterectomy. Can you elaborate?

I’m trying to decide between the Paleo and non Paleo anti cookbook. I am currently eating brown rice along with the AIP diet. What non Paleo foods are in this book as I’m looking to add more variety to my diet.
