Antihistamine Beet Juice

Antihistamine & Anti-inflammatory Mango Beet Juice

Yes I’m a freak. Not only do I love really weird foods (that are GREAT for me) but I also totally dig research. Today’s find? Beetroot not only kills histamine induced inflammation; it can help clear up arthritic inflammation as well as a commonly prescribed medication [1] and…it acts as an antihistamine/H1 receptor antagonist (like Claritin for example) thereby exhibiting anti-asthmatic properties [2].

What brought on this most recent bout of Google-fingers was a lovely display of golden beets at my local health food store. Now you can certainly make this juice with any colour beets – I’m just a sucker for anything pretty!

You’ll have to adjust the quantities to your personal buds. I use less fruit because I’m not in it for the flavour.

Please remember that antihistamine foods can still hurt us so please check with your doctor before introducing any new foods to your diet.

I used to LOVE beet juice. But now I no longer tolerate beets. I’m sure it has nothing to do with histamine. It just reminds me how individual it is to find the right foods. This looks so delicious. I would love to gulp this down!

Please be aware that beetroots are super high in oxalates which are very inflammatory. It’s not wise to have too much, too often. Everything in moderation 🙂

Sorry to go off-topic but I was wondering what your thoughts are on including carbs in the diet from sources such as white rice? Would this have an effect on histamine one way or the other? I struggle eating low histamine because I often get low in energy and am restricted in my choices for carbs.

Do you ever add fresh turmeric to your juices? Just wondering if they would complement the ingredients here, both in terms do taste and nutritional value. Thanks for all your great posts.

Apparently eating high oxalate foods with dairy helps because dairy binds to minerals and such, and doesn’t allow us to absorb as much of the oxalates as we otherwise would. Traditional diets knew this probably. Russians eat borscht. Persians eat beets with yogurt hta hearty soup full of oxalate rich greens with kashk (similar to whey or farmers cheese). Creamed spinach, anyone? 🙂 Check out my blog: persianpaleo.co

Oh my god! First time I juiced 1 small beet and took it on an empty stomach … Thought I was going to die ! My friend who has a juice shop said its like a shot of something very very potent! I should have mixed with something else and maybe not taken it on an empty stomach.

Are you sure its not just golden beets? I have had a histamine reaction (sinus headache, very tell-tale for me) after a weekend of red beet salads! I thought ” red” was generally to be avoided ….strawberries, tomatoes, red berries etc . ???

Yes, this is super high oxalates which is probably why many people had a problem drinking it. Or you could drink it, feel okay but be sick the next day. If you can digest oxalates though it wouldn’t be a problem.
